Famous Louis

In this work, I reinterpreted the famous image of Ivan Kramsky's painting "Unknown", replacing the mysterious heroine with the charming Chihuahua Louie. I wanted to preserve the atmosphere of mystery, confidence and aristocracy, which is inherent in the original image, but at the same time add light humor and modern reading to the work. Louis appears in front of the viewer as if he knows his worth perfectly. His gaze is calm and confident, and the pose creates the feeling of a real secular character. The small size of the dog only emphasizes the contrast - before us is a tiny hero with the character of a great personality. I deliberately left the recognizable composition and mood of the original painting so that the viewer could immediately draw a parallel with classical art. But instead of a serious image of an unknown woman, Louis appears - a character who seems to ask his own question: "Why don't I be in the place of a hero of great art?" This picture is about playing with the classics, the love of animals and the opportunity to see a familiar masterpiece from a completely different angle. Louis is no longer just a chihuahua. For a moment, he turns into a true aristocrat who proudly takes his place in the history of art.
