Young woman

Dimensions25 × 30 cm

This picture is about the silence of the night, inner freedom and the feeling that a person has left the usual world and found himself inside his own dream. In the center of the composition is a girl walking on water illuminated by the moonlight. There is darkness around, but it doesn't seem gloomy. On the contrary, the night creates a special atmosphere of mystery, in which every ray of light becomes even more tangible. The moonlight gently envelops her silhouette. The contour of the girl seems to be illuminated by the cold glow of the moon, thanks to which she stands out against a dark background. The light glides over her figure and emphasizes the silhouette of the dress, creating the impression that she herself has become part of the night light. A special role is played by the girl's dress. It seems to catch every moon ray and reflect it, becoming one of the main sources of light in the composition. Her image looks almost unreal - as if the heroine got out of her sleep and continues her journey just on top of the water. Another important element of the picture is volumetric waves. I created them not only with the help of painting, but also added a real texture - crystals that reflect light and create the effect of shimmering water. They capture the shine of the moon and turn the surface of the water into many small light reflections. It is thanks to the crystals that the waves seem to go beyond the canvas, become tangible and three-dimensional. They create a game between darkness and light: the darker around, the stronger the individual details shine. It was important for me to create a contrast between deep darkness and cold moonlight. The dark space seems to hide everything superfluous, leaving only the most important: the silhouette of the girl, her dress, water and the light of the moon. This work for me is about the path through the darkness to my own light. About the moment when there may be uncertainty around, but inside there is still a direction that you want to go. The girl simply continues her journey on the lunar water - where reality ends and her own world begins.
